Services Provided:
SUPERVISED VISITATION refers to contact between a non-custodial parent and one or more children in the presence of a third party,
who is responsible for observing and factually recording the interactions of the non-custodial parent and children, seeking to ensure
the safety of those involved. “Monitored Visitation”, Supervised Child Access”, and “Supervised Child Contact” are other terms with
the same meaning.
THERAPEUTIC VISITATION is similar to Supervised Visitation, except that the professional third party is a certified clinician who can
provide limited therapeutic intervention during the visits.
SUPERVISED EXCHANGES, sometimes referred to as “Monitored Exchanges” or Supervised/Monitored Transfers” is supervision of the transfer
of the child from one parent to the other. Supervision is limited to the exchange or transfer only with the visit between parent/child
unsupervised. Precautions are taken to assure that the two parents or other individuals exchanging the child do not come into contact
with one another.
We also provide Telephone Monitoring, Written Reports, Custody-Related Home Studies, copies of Observation Logs, and can appear in court.
Using A Professional:
WHY USE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICE, PARTICULARLY WHEN THERE IS A FEE INVOLVED? It is often difficult to find a family member or friend
on which both parents agree to supervise a visit. If parents are having sufficient conflict that supervision has become necessary, chances
are slim that they will be able to find an individual they both will trust. It also is a strain on family members and friends to be in this
particular situation. They quickly tire of being in the middle of conflict and usually cannot remain a neutral party. The feeling of trust
and safety is then compromised. For these reasons, friend or relative supervision often does not work well for the child or parents.
PROFESSIONALS WHO PROVIDE THE SERVICE are selected and credentialed by Vanguard Professional Staffing, Inc. They include social
workers and other human services professionals such as child welfare, law enforcement, clergy, psychology, and others. Therapeutic Visitation
is provided only by credentialed clinicians, such as Licensed Clinical Social Workers. All professionals receive specialized supervised
visitation training before being assigned to work with families. Management and oversight of all services are by experienced providers of
supervised visitation services.
